May 7, 2007 8:28 AM
Tehran, May 7, Taliya News – Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Ministry’s Legal Affairs Deputy said here Saturday that ministry has still not been directed by any concerned official to filter the unethical MMSes dispatched on mobile phones, neither to do so within the ICT affiliated organs, “but if we would be directed to do so, a state organ we would abide by such an order.”
Samad Mo’men-Bellah further emphasized in an interview with ILNA, “So far no obvious case of obscene MMS messages has been forwarded to the ICT Ministry, but if the Case Study Committee would ask the ICT Ministry, we would be obliged to do so, just as we did in the case of the obscene websites.”
He added, “Yet, in case of the MMSes the situation is different since deciding over which MMSes are ethical and which are not is questionable.
Mo’men-Bellah reiterated that from the legal point of the view, too, there must be an appropriate atmosphere for the mobile subscribers to file a complaint in case they receive inappropriate message, or of they get entangled with phone line intruders.
