February 12, 2008 12:58 PM
MOBNA – Works have started, in line with Constitution’s article 44, towards ‘118’ telephone directory privatization.
According to MOBNA, and based on the Ministry of Information & Communication Technology PR Department, Rouhollahi, Tehran Province Telecom chief said as first move towards that end the Center’s ‘mode’ has been changed to commercial.
He added for the ‘118’ Center to be privatized, it is necessary that it makes income to pay for its operators’ salaries, which amount to 50b Rial annually, funded so far by the Telecom.
He indicated the Center has much potential, and by offering new services could provide new employments.
He said 96% of inquiries are about jobs, and indicated employment agencies which benefit from its service are planned to pay small monthly subscriptions.
He added the subscription rate would vary for different cities, which the Radio Communication & Regulations Organization (RCRO) is currently working on.
One option, he suggested, is for the Center to offer answering machine service.
