MOBNA – Communications Infrastructure chief announced that the new regulations on estimation of damages to the fiber optic network have been compiled and will be enforced this year.
Mohammad Bagher Zohourifar told MOBNA that, based on new regulations, the cost of damages due to cuts in the fiber optic network will be determined, taking into account the average cost.
He predicted, as a result, the cost of cuts will rise this year, mainly borne by culprits.
The CIC chief stressed that the existing fiber optic network is a national asset, and remarked that the number of incidence of cuts last year had increased while internet disconnections fell by 10%.
He stressed that the fiber optic network cuts affect links with country’s provinces and, in particular, the Data network and international links.
The cuts, the CIC chief believes, will also affect country’s cultural and security activities.
He rated construction works as main cause of cuts, and wished the organizations concerned should do their utmost to minimize such incidents.
