A senior telecommunication expert suggests that the mobile phone’s SMS potential,

as a popular means, is greater its current role as a means for sending humorous messages.
Ahmad Esmaeeli, in conversation with MOBNA, said SMS currently acts as a full medium and should be used for wider transmission of ideas.
He referred to its unique characteristics as a cheap and fast means of sending messages, and said it could be used to fill most of the existing cultural gaps.
He said the service is particularly useful when some people shy away from speaking in public.
He remarked, with the advent of virtual world, that some families nowadays go so far as contacting other member of the family through the mobile phone and the SMS.
